Artwork for our Orchards
Our Orchards have new signs. Thank you to Katie Jennings for her beautiful artwork on our signs. The Men's Shed group organised the black signs and put them up at all the orchards around the village. The signs are a beautiful addition to our community orchards and are there to let everyone know that the fruit on the trees is there for all to enjoy.
It is great when the different groups in the village can work together on ideas and the Action Group are delighted to work with the new Men's Shed for projects like this. Some of the new trees have some fruit, which is great to see, the apple trees seem to be doing quite well. The fruit crop will hopefully increase next year when the trees are more established. There is also a lovely full existing apple tree in the school, that was planted a few years ago. The children can look forward to harvesting the apples when they return to school.
2020 the year of Covid - but hopefully our Community Orchards will be a project from 2020 that will keep growing, producing fruit and a community activity, for years to come.
