Collinstown village, Co. Westmeath

Our village is a beautiful, active little village in North Westmeath. There is a wealth of different clubs, groups and businesses in the village that we are all very proud of. The economic heart beat of the village are the businesses around the crossroads; we have Carmel’s Daybreak, The Lough Lene Inn, The Maypole Bar and Roma Takeaway on the Castlepollard Road.

St. Mary’s NS

St. Mary's NS co-educational primary school beside the church in Collinstown village. The school is a vital part of our vibrant community. There is a great team running the school and this is where our children learn academics, life lessons and make their friends and where families meet and get to know eachother.

St. Mary's Church

Our church is a very important part of our village and of the Collinstown Fore Parish.  The church, its bell tower and the new healing garden provide a very spiritual and tranquil space in the village.  St Mary's Church houses one of the replica's of the Lough Lene bell which is the most important and well knows of the ancient relics from the area. Fr. Patrick is our parish priest and has a passion for the church working with the community in the parish.

Collinstown Dance Hall

Located on the Castlepollard road, the hall houses many of our community groups, clubs and events.   Toddler Group on a Monday morning, Bingo on a Tuesday evening, Community Games practice throughout the week, Pickleball most Thursdays, monthly ICA meetings and most recently a monthly Farmers Market on is the fourth Sunday of every month.

Sport in Collinstown

Hurling and camogie are the sport of choice in this corner of North Westmeath and Collinstown is no exception. The Lough Lene Gaels Club is located off the Castlepollard Road and houses both the hurling and camogie clubs. The club have a playing pitch, a walking track and the clubhouse and are currently developing a second pitch expanding the fantastic facilities that are there. Some of the best hurlers in the country call this pitch home. Both the hurling and camogie clubs are passionate about nurturing talent from a young age with the junior teams training every week from April until October.Collinstown Pitch and Putt Club is one of the most renowned and popular pitch and putt courses in the country.  Non members green fees are €5, a great activity for the day.

Business in Collinstown

We have a range of businesses in and around Collinstown from Decotek Automotive, which is the largest employer in the area to Kidz Aloud the Nursery and Montessori, O'Donnells Funeral Directors and most things you need for life in between.  Carmel’s Daybreak is well known locally for their excellent ice cream cones. They have hot and cold deli’s, coffee, homemade cakes and everything you would expect from a local shop. Fishing permits for Lough Lene are available in the shop and pitch and putt clubs can be rented for use at Collinstown Pitch and Putt club.There are two pubs in the village, providing something for everyone for an afternoon or night out.  The Lough Lene Inn is a vibrant village pub where the sport is on the tv in the bar, you can enjoy a game of pool in the pool room, the chat is flowing and there is live music in the bar and lounge on a regular basis.  The Maypole Bar & Lounge is a traditional, relaxing, spotlessly clean venue with three small bar sections and a snug lounge & games room with pool table & dartboard.   Roma Takeaway, across from Collinstown Dance Hall, offers delicious pizzas aswell as a full chipper menu.

Lough Lene, Collinstown

We are very lucky to have such a beautiful lake like Lough Lene on our door step.  The Cut, which is 2km from the crossroads out the lake road, is one of the finest swimming spot in the country and with its jetty, sandy bottom and clear water is a great place for swimmers of all abilities.  The Lough Lene Angling Association are based at Fagan's on the Castlepollard road and from here enjoy some of the best trout fishing around.
