Lough Lene Gaels OsKaRs

Lough Lene Gales club are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and as part of the celebrations we are running A night at the OsKaRs on Friday 3rd May.  The preparations for this, the fundraising and filming, are well under way and everyone involved is really looking forward to enjoying the night out and seeing the whole community there.

All fundraising events scheduled for last weekend were postponed while we all stopped to mourn the passing of Marian Potter, beloved wife to Joe Potter, Chairperson of our club and mother to Eamonn Potter, Secretary Lough Lene Gaels.  Marian will be dearly missed by all at our club and in our community.

Over the past two weekends the seven groups have filmed their movies and we definitely have some budding actors in our midst.  These movies, The Field, The Snapper, Braveheart, My Left Foot, Sister Act, The Shawshank Redemption and Michael Collins will all be shown on 3rd May at The Night at the OsKaRs where the OsKaRs ceremony will take place and the winners will be announced.  Tickets, for what is sure to be a fantastic night out, are on sale now for €25 in Carmel's Daybreak, The Lough Lene Inn and from Barry O'Donnell.

The groups are also working very hard fundraising.  There has been some brilliant events so far including Rock and Roll bingo, Waxathons, Come Dine with Me, an Ironing marathon, Car Wash and much more.  Thank you to everyone for all your efforts to date and to everyone for supporting all the events so far.

The fun is not over yet though and we have some great events in store over the coming days, including a Children's Disco, a Ladies Night, an Easter Egg Hunt to name but a few.  Check out the calendar on this website for a full list of events, just click on the item to see all the details.  So decide what looks good for you and your friends and family and head on out to have some fun and support the Lough Lene Gaels and everyone taking part in the OsKaRs.
