CreativillAGE Launch - The Turning Wheel
Collinstown Action Group are delighted to announce the launch of our CreativillAGE project "The Turning Wheel" film. This fantastic project was spearheaded by Teresa Doyle and captures stories from Collinstown's past and what life was like in the village and surrounding area over 50 years ago.
Thank you to Mrs. Norrie Flynn, Mr. Jackie Reynolds, Mrs. Eileen Castles and her late brother Mr. John McDonald R.I.P. who told their stories so beautifully and have given a fantastic insight into life at the time. Thank you also to the pupils of 5th and 6th class 2017/2018 in St. Mary's School who interpreted the stories and created drawings putting the words into pictures.
Thank you to the Creative Ireland Programme and Westmeath County Council Arts Office for your support of this project. This was a collaboration between Artist Teresa Doyle, Writer and Broadcaster Manchán Magan and Film Makers Karl Somers and Nicola Lane of Little Cloud Productions. Thank you to all the team for bringing this work to completion and for your enthusiasm in thoughtfully capturing this piece of history from our area.
The result of this project is a wonderful, interesting and important film which brings the viewer on a journey through Collinstown's past and sheds new light on the area we all know and love.
We would like to invite you to come along to our launch event during Heritage Week on Thursday 22nd August at 11am in Collinstown Hall. This film, which runs for 40 minutes, is quiet and reflective, and it is important that it can be viewed and enjoyed by everyone there. The event is not suitable for young children. Our launch will celebrate this beautiful project and all who were involved in it.
"The Turning Wheel" film will be on the Collinstown website following the launch, so if you cannot make the event you will still be able to see the film.
If you would like further information please contact Teresa on 087 6421148.
