Collinstown Fore Drumcree Text Alert Service Update

Collinstown Action Group have been working with the Collinstown Fore Drumcree Community Alert Group setting up a Text Alert Service for the area.  Since the launch meeting on 28th August we have been collecting registration forms.  We have 101 households signed up and today the details have been submitted to BeAlert.

BeAlert is Ireland's original, and largest, provider of Community Text Alert messaging.  It is an automated system so that Gardaí can issue text alerts instantly and easily.  Deirdre Daly and the Community Alert Committee will be working with BeAlert and An Garda Siochana next week getting the service set up and getting our group to the stage where we can receive the alerts from the Gardaí.

When the system is set up, the group members will get a notification and will be invited to download the Cairde App.  We would encourage everyone who has a smart phone to download this app.  The Cairde App, should you choose to use it, will be where the alerts from the Gardaí come to and will allow users to alert neighbours if there is an emergency.  Check out the video on the Cairde website homepage to get more information.

The Cairde App will be a great app for those who decide to use it, but all members will receive notifications regardless of whether or not they choose to use the app.  If you do not have a smart phone, or are not comfortable using apps, don't worry you will receive your notifications by text.

We are all very pleased with the progress that has been made with this project in the past few weeks and look forward to it being fully up and running within the next week or two.  The Community Alert Group will be bringing this project forward in the coming weeks and months and will update you on when registration will be open again and any other developments.

Collinstown Action Group would like to thank our members who work so hard on different projects around the village including this important text alert project.  Well done to the members of the Community Alert Group for their great work in getting this project up and running and we wish you the best of luck going forward.
